Oscar Negrete wins return at Belasco
Los Angeles (July 06, 2018)- Returning from a seven month layoff following a December 2017 loss to Rey Vargas, Oscar Negrete (18-1 7KO’s) looked to get back into the win column after returning to his natural 118 pound class. Journeyman Diuhl Olguin (13-10-3 9KO’s) was shipped in from Guadalajara to provide a warm body for the Colombian to beat on in the process.
Negrete flashed good inside work and never neglected the body of the very game Olguin. Negrete appeared to tire in the middle rounds, letting off the gas just enough to give Olguin the opportunity to land some good shots of his own but the Colombian Olympian’s work was enough to capture the majority of the rounds.

On scores of 78-74, and 79-73 (twice) Negrete showed a little ring rust but walks away with a unanimous victory in his return.
Rigoberto Hermosillo Notches TKO5
In the co-main event Rigoberto Hermosillo (12-0-1 9KO’s) of Guadalajara, Mexico notched a TKO in the fifth round of an action bout over Ernesto Guerrero (29-23 19KO’s). Hermosillo was the bigger and stronger fighter but still looked raw in terms of class. Guerrero was able to rock Hermosillo with a right hand but Hermosillo was able to shake it off and return fire to stop Guerrero at 2:30 of the fifth round.

Raul Curiel Wins With Roach
Mexican Olympian Raul Curiel (4-03KO’s) had hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach in his corner for the first time and wasted no time in dispatching opponent Demetrius Wilson (2-8). Curiel stood about a head taller than Wilson and battered him to the body, dropping him twice until the referee called a halt to the contest at 2:13 of the second round.

Cobbs Wins
Opening the night was Las Vegas native Blair Cobbs (8-0-1 5KO’s). Cobbs brought a lot of energy into the ring prior to his fight against Juan Rivera (19-21 13KO’s) then boxed slowly over four rounds, cruising to a unanimous decision on scores of 40-36 (twice), and 39-37. Cobbs is a definite work in progress but has a crowd pleasing attitude that could make him a main stay at club shows in Los Angeles.
