FAIRFAX, VA May 11th, 2019- Julian “J-Rock” Williams conquered a brutual 12-round bout against the champion, Jarrett “Swift” Hurd, for the upset tonight at the EagleBank Arena in Virginia.

The Philly-born, Williams, became the new super welterweight world champion, capturing Hurd’s IBF, IBO and WBA Super Welterweight World Titles.

Williams ((27-1-1, 16 KOs), proved to be the more aggressive boxer. He pressed on the pressure, and worked well on the inside against Hurd. Hurd (23-1, 16 KOs) had his moments, but it was Williams who was more balanced with his footwork landing power punches. Williams’ uppercuts were very affective as they landed consistently throughout the 12-rounds. Hurd was knocked down in the second round and suffered two cuts in the fight.

“I feel like I’m dreaming. I’m just so blessed. I work so hard,” said an emotional Williams after capturing the titles. “Since my lost with Jermall Charlo, they told me I was done. The boxing world, they think that boxers take a loss and they can’t come back.”

Williams’ victory is his fifth win since his fifth round, knock out defeat from Jermall Charlo in December 2016. “You gotta keep supporting Jarrett,” said Williams, who commended Hurd’s mother, Brenda, for being a graceful woman.

There is a rematch clause for Hurd and Williams, but Williams said he was going to enjoy his win for the moment.

“I thank you all for the love and support,” said Hurd, as he addressed his fans in the EagleBank Arena. “J-Rock was the better man tonight. He put me down for the first time in my career and he came out with the victory.”

“I will be back, you know I will be back,” said Hurd.

The boxing world tweeted this tremendous fight could possibly be a candidate for Fight Of The Year. Many boxing enthusiasts seemed surprised that Williams’ was able to push back and land so many hard punches on the former champion, Hurd. This champion bout was aired live on PBC on Fox.
