Spence vs Porter Heating Up

on

Los Angeles, September 5th, 2019- Only three weeks remain until the anticipated welterweight unification match between IBF Champion Errol Spence Jr. 25-0 21KOs and Shawn Porter 30-2-1 17KOs happens at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the fighters themselves didn’t mince words during an episode of PBC Face to Face on Fox last Sunday.

It’s clear that Shawn Porter has embraced the role of underdog, and it bothers him. The usual smile and happy warrior persona of Porter was all but gone as he and Spence traded words ending with promises to knock each other out.

“I’m expecting to break Errol Spence in a lot of different ways,” said Porter. “I’m expecting this to be the fight that comes as a wakeup call for his career” Porter said.

Spence said of Porter “You going to be swinging wild and you’ll just miss. I am going to punish you. Watch.”

The build up for the fight was kicked off by a press conference open to the public in front of the Staples Center. Spence had already started predicting a knockout victory saying “I’m looking to stop him, he likes to come forward so look for him running into that” during a scrum interview.

Porter and Spence once trained together back in 2012 and both commented on the past and what has transpired since.

‘From 2012 to now a lot of things can change and I’m sure a lot of things have changed. I do feel that in some ways, we have a good insight, but not a complete insight on who Errol Spence Jr. is and what he’s capable of.” Said Porter”

Spence replied “You can go back and look at amateur tapes and see why I lost, but at the end of the day, you’re going to be in a real fight. I’m looking to punish him from the first round until I stop him. I’m looking to make history. I’m looking to be the best. That’s why I took on this challenge and that’s’ why I wanted to fight Shawn Porter.”

Premiere Boxing Champions appears to have started the marketing push to sell the fight to the public, commercials advertising the PPV event have been seen on all Fox platforms to include Fox News.

The Welterweight tournament within the PBC stable has begun, Pacquiao defeated Thurman to further his legacy as an all time great and secure his WBA title. Spence and Porter will create a unified champion to move forward as the elite welterweight of Premiere Boxing Champions.

Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman could also find themselves back in the mix for an opportunity at Pacquiao or the winner of Spence Porter. The likelihood of a matchup with pound for pound WBO welterweight champion Terrance Crawford is off the table at this moment.

With business to conduct in house and plenty of purse money to go around a PBC welterweight matchup with Crawford looks unlikely until all business is complete in house.
