Danny “Swift” Garcia (35-2,21 KOs) shines with a seventh-round TKO victory over Adrian Granados (20-7-2, 14 KOs) Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Arena in Carson, CA for the WBC Silver Welterweight title.

Garcia sent Granados to the canvas twice in the second round. The first knockdown came from a solid counter left hook to the chin and the second came from a looping right hand over the top. In the third, Granados suffered a bloody nose.

“I’ve said it before, when Danny Garcia is at his best, nobody can beat him. I had gotten a little comfortable in the past, but I put my 110 percent into this fight and when I do, I beat everyone.”

-Danny Gacria

Garcia put Granados in his place by walking him down and sending the 29-year old Mexican from Illinois, down to the canvas for the third time in the fifth round. Granados made plenty of mistakes through out the fight by keeping himself open, dropping his hands and his timing was too short for Garcia’s speed.

Referee Thomas Taylor intervened and stopped the fight at 1:33 in the seventh round after Garcia land a few one-twos upstairs while having Granados on the ropes. Garcia, 31, celebrated his win jumping on the ropes and shouting to the fans, “I’m back!”.

“I had to make a statement and knock him out. I had to be the first man who stops him and I got it done.

-Danny Garcia

This was first time in Granados’ career that he was stopped.
