Los Angeles, April 26th 2019- In a battle of mighty mini-men Juan Francisco Estrada 39-3 (26KOs) exacted revenge at The Forum in Inglewood, CA defeating Srisaket Sor Rungvisai 47-5-1 (41KOs) by unanimous decision. At the end of twelve entertaining rounds the judge’s scorecards read 116-112 and 115-113 (twice) to award Estrada the WBC and Ring Magazine Super Flyweight titles.

A big win under bright lights has eluded Juan Francisco Estrada for years. The hard-core base of boxing fandom has been aware of “El Gallo” and his abilities for years. Big wins over Hernan Marquez, Giovani Segura, Brian Viloria, and Carlos Cuadras never garnered the attention craved by the titanic tiny man from Mexico. Instead Estrada was most talked about for close losses to Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.
Estrada out landed Sor Rungvisai 289 to 230 in a blistering fight that saw each fighter throw a thousand punches. The rematch equaled the ferocity of the first fight with both fighters trading and landing to the final bell.

Estrada took an early lead in the fight as Sor Rungvisai fought in the orthodox stance changing from his natural southpaw position. Accurate timing and counters won the early rounds for Estrada until the back half of the fight when Sor Rungvisai turned it on, switching back to southpaw to land big shots down the stretch.
“He surprised me a bit by that. Because he is always lefty, it surprised me that he was righty tonight,” Estrada said. “But I felt him out well when he fought right-handed.”

The win opens a possible unification fight for the Mexican against WBA champion Kal Yafai that could be made with both fighters working with Matchroom and DAZN.
