Casimero Stops Tete in 3rd

Rafael Valencia

John Riel Casimero (28-4 19 KO’s) from the Philippines, pulled an upset TKO victory against South African native Zolane ‘Last Born’ Tete (28-3 21 KO’s) in a knockout victory.

Tete started of the first two rounds using his jab and reach advantage to keep Casimero at distance. The Filipino fighter looked frustrated when not able to get in the inside.

Everything changed in the third round when Casimero lunged in and connected with a hard right hand as the South African was ducking and followed it with another right hand that dropped Tete.

After hitting the canvas and beating the count twice, Tete found himself against the ropes getting hit with the combinations that made the referee stop the fight at 2:14 of round number three. Casimero becomes the new WBO Bantamweight Champion and improves his KO streak to five and demonstrating that his power is for real.
