Las Vegas May 4th, 2019- During the entire buildup for Canelo vs. Jacobs both fighters were respectful and reserved until a fiery moment at yesterdays weigh in when both fighters got into a melee ending with Canelo uttering an expletive during his interview.
On scores of 115-113 twice and 116-112 Canelo Alvarez won a unanimous decision in a competitive fight that saw Jacobs come up short in most exchanges.

Jacobs opened the first round peppering a jab, keeping a measured Canelo at distance. Canelo turned up the heat in the second and started to land first often and last always. In the sixth round Jacobs switched southpaw with success but fell short on the follow up after exchanges.
Going down the stretch Jacobs turned up the heat to close the last four rounds competitively in front of the raucous crowd at the T-Mobile arena.
“I felt I did enough to get the win tonight, I gotta go back and look at the tape” Jacobs said after the fight.

Potential opponents looming for Canelo after the victory include WBO champion Demetrius Andrade who was ringside for the fight. “I want to win all the belts, that’s who I want next” Canelo said after the fight.
A potential third fight with Gennady Golovkin is also a possible scenario to which Alvarez said, “If that’s what the fans want then that’s what we’ll do. I was born to fight.”
